What are biostimulators?

In the quest for timeless beauty, biostimulators have emerged as a revolutionary solution. Biostimulation therapies are versatile and include injectable biostimulators, needling, threads, exosomes, and stem cells. This blog will focus on ready-to-use injectable biostimulators only, with more exciting content covering other types to come!

Join us as we unveil the remarkable potential of some of the most popular ready-to-use injectable biostimulators in rejuvenating aging skin towards a natural, long-lasting radiance.

What can injectable biostimulators do for you?

Injectable biostimulators can be applied to all skin types, whether young or mature, dry, stressed, or oily, including acne-prone skin. They work to boost skin hydration, firmness, and elasticity, refine texture, and minimize pore size. Various skin concerns, such as wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, stretch marks, and cellulite can be effectively treated.

Wrinkles: Biostimulators are tailored to target wrinkles by reducing fine lines and creases on the face. Simultaneously, they can enhance skin volume and surface smoothness.

Volume Loss: Aging often leads to diminished volume in specific facial areas, resulting in a tired appearance. Biostimulators can also restore lost volume, revitalizing the face for a youthful, refreshed look.

Firmness, Texture, and Skin Quality: Biostimulators play a role in enhancing skin firmness and elasticity, refining texture, and addressing irregularities caused by sun damage. Through increased skin hydration and minimized pore visibility, biostimulators further elevate the overall quality of the skin.

Cellulite: cellulite is an unsightly and un-curable condition of skin and subcutaneous tissues affecting more than 90% of Caucasian women. Biostimulators can reduce dimpling, tighten, and strengthen the skin, improving the typical ‘orange-peel’ aspect of the affected areas.

Scarring: Biostimulators can be successfully used in treating scars resulting from acne or minor skin injuries, resulting in a more seamless skin texture.

How does the treatment work?

Injectable biostimulators are generally placed in the deep skin layer or directly underneath it. Acting very differently than hyaluronic acid, they activate the body's innate production of crucial proteins such as collagen and elastin, which naturally decreases with aging. These compounds are the building blocks for tissue regeneration, a process resulting in improved skin texture, diminished wrinkles, and a more resilient, youthful appearance.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers that primarily add volume, injectable biostimulators foster the skin's natural ability to regenerate its own structural support. With a range of different products available, biostimulators represent a sophisticated approach to revitalizing the skin and achieving long-lasting results.

Which injectable biostimulators do we offer?

Radiesse : Radiesse serves as a long-established tool in tissue regeneration. It was designed to enhance skin volume and alleviate facial wrinkling and volume depletion in the face or in a variety of other body areas. With newer techniques, it can now be used purely as a biostimulator, without the immediate volumizing effect and associated risks of a non-reversible, long-lasting filler. Distinguishing itself from typical dermal fillers, Radiesse prompts the tissue to produce fresh collagen, a feature not found in typical hyaluronic acid fillers. This notably efficient process not only revitalizes the skin by adding volume, but also tightens loose skin and reduces wrinkles.

Upon injection, Radiesse promptly initiates the formation of a subcutaneous "scaffold", while simultaneously activating the body's collagen production. Comprising calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) suspended in a gel matrix, Radiesse undergoes metabolic breakdown as it is absorbed, resulting in activation of regenerative processes. Serial treatments are often required for optimal results.

Outcomes of facial and body applications are seamless, with minimal risk of complications if performed by a board-certified aesthetic specialist such as a plastic surgeon. Results typically last for approximately 1-2 years. Radiesse can be used as a biostimulator only (hyperdiluted), or as a combined filler and biostimulator. In aging hands, it is optimally placed in a less diluted form in the subcutaneous layer of the dorsal aspect of the hand, to augment volume and diminish the visibility of veins and tendons, as well as improve skin quality. Mild swelling for about three days can be expected post-treatment.

Sculptra : Sculptra  is another type of ready-to-use biostimulator with a great potential to give you a rejuvenated appearance. Like Radiesse, it functions by increasing the natural collagen production in your body.

Similarly, Sculptra's effects unfold gradually. This is due to its composition of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible substance that creates an advantageous inflammatory reaction in the tissue, fostering regenerative processes. Through increased collagen production, your skin's texture and resilience will enhance, yielding a more youthful and radiant complexion.

Multiple treatment sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, are necessary for optimal results. It's typical to experience swelling for a few days, followed by a period where there's little apparent change. Around six to eight weeks after the first session, you may notice a subtle difference. Results will continue to improve for about six months after the last treatment. We recommend a minimum of three treatment sessions.

PROFHILO : PROFHILO is a unique product among the injectable biostimulators, as it only contains ultra-pure hyaluronic acid, while still managing to stimulate collagen and elastin production, whereas hyaluronic acid technologies in products like Restylane or Juvederm do not. It does not work like a filler and has closer similarities to hyaluronic acid-based skin booster products such as Volite and Restylane Vital – which are used for mesotherapy –although the technology of PROFHILO is very different. Aside from stimulating collagen- and elastin through slow release of hyaluronic acid (lifting and tightening the skin), the product attracts water to the deeper layers of the skin, giving it a plump and hydrated aspect.

HArmonyCa : This innovative dual-action hybrid injectable blends two potent ingredients of skin rejuvenation, hyaluronic acid (HA) and CaHa, to deliver both immediate lifting effects and long-lasting tissue improvement.

What sets HArmonyCa apart is its hybrid technology. The HA, with its cross-linked structure, offers an instant lifting effect, smoothing away wrinkles and lines, while CaHa acts as a biostimulator, revitalizing and firming the facial skin over time.

HArmonyCa caters to individuals concerned about age-related facial structural loss and to those seeking sustained enhancement in facial proportions, as well as improvement of skin texture and reduction in lines and wrinkles.
